The National Board for Certified Counselors owns and maintains two examinations that are used for both national certification and state licensure purposes:
Certification examinations are administered by the National Board for Certified Counselors.
For National Certified Counselors (NCCs), applicants for the NCC, and candidates who are requesting a score verification for an additional state, log in to your Credentialing Gateway account and submit a request and payment to have examination scores sent to a third party. This score report will also verify your current certification status. Some limitations apply.
If you tested through CCE for state licensure purposes, then you do not need to submit a score verification request. Scores are automatically sent to your state board approximately four weeks from your testing date. If you have questions about your score status, please contact CCE.
Score verification requests are completed in approximately 4 weeks. Missing documents, such as an official transcript showing conferral of your master’s degree; pending ethics matters; or unpaid past-due fees will delay the processing of your score verification.
